About Jon Cruttenden Photography

Jon Cruttenden Photography - Inspiration

My main source of inspiration over the years has been the striking natural beauty of the Staffordshire Moorlands and the Peak District National Park.

More recently, I have been inspired by the characterful architecture to be found in and around Leek itself.

Wonderful photographic opportunities await those prepared to pace the streets of Leek, camera in hand, eyes peeled for something beyond the obvious, and above the shop hoardings…

I began to sell my work in June 2004 through Leek Tourist Information Centre.

I put together a portfolio and approached anyone locally who I thought might be interested in displaying or selling my work.

I have staged exhibitions in Leek and Much Wenlock in Shropshire, and have sold pictures bound for destinations all over the world.

Galleries and Outlets for Jon's Work

I continue to sell my work through Galleries in and around the area.  In addition to this, I sell my work direct to the public through my market stalls in Leek and Bakewell.

I like to meet my customers, and talk about my work.  This is a more personal and rewarding experience than selling pictures to faceless image libraries and waiting for a cheque to arrive in the post.

Guaranteed Personal Sales Service

None of my work is mass-produced. All images are captured, post produced, printed, mounted and assembled by myself.

This allows me control over the whole process.  I print all pictures using an Epson Stylus Pro3800 A2 printer.  This printer uses the very latest 9 colour pigmented UltraChrome K3 inkset.

Lightfastness claimed by the manufacturer is 75 years for colour, and 100 for Monochrome, so my prints will last for a lifetime.

Awards and Prizes - The Royal Photographic Society

In May 2005 I entered a competition to find “Friends of the Peak District Peak Park Picture of the year”.  I won – and by a unanimous decision, against a record entry.

I received “Highly Commended” for entries into the Leek Arts Festival Photographic competitions in both 2005 and 2006, finally bagging a “Winner” in 2007.

I also achieved “Runner up” for the “Friends of the Peak District Peak Park Picture of the year” in 2007.

In December 2007 I finally quit my job to pursue my passion for photography full time.

I am currently putting together a body of work for a Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society.
